Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some of the most commonly asked practice questions.
Osteopathic treatment benefits babies by relieving body tension from the birth process. This tension can lead to common problems such as tongue ties, torticollis, colic, constipation, developmental delays and fussiness.
An osteopathic physician relieves body tension with a gentle touch. Many times changes in the baby can be seen immediately.
Babies are seen every week or two until symptoms resolve. The number of treatments needed varies depending on the age and condition of the baby. In general, younger babies need less treatments than older babies who have developed more compensations.
Babies undergoing treatment for lip or tongue ties typically have 3 weekly osteopathic treatments prior to tongue/lip tie release, osteopathic treatment on the day of the procedure, and osteopathic treatment on each of the 3 dental post op visits.
Osteopathic treatment benefits children of all ages with common symptoms such as trouble sleeping, headaches, tummy aches, difficulty focusing and developmental delays.
Osteopathic treatment releases trauma from both the birth process and typical bumps and bruises of childhood so the body can heal and function optimally.
In healthy children, osteopathic treatment supports normal growth and development so children continue to meet developmental milestones as they grow.
The number of treatments needed varies depending on the age and condition of the patient.
Osteopathy is for adults too!
Osteopathic treatment addresses the body’s structure. Trauma from falls, car accidents, sports injuries, and even emotions, impact the body’s structure. The amazing human body will compensate…..until it can’t, and then pain or disease develops. Osteopathic treatment restores a healthy balance to all the body’s tissues so you can find your health.
Osteopathic treatment is recommended for all adults considering the ALF process. Ideally, patients should receive osteopathic treatments prior to insertion of the appliance and monthly for at least the first year of treatment.
Monthly osteopathic treatments are recommended for children and adults undergoing the ALF treatment process. Osteopathic treatment supports ALF treatment by releasing tension in the bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons so the ALF appliance can work efficiently.
